Every year, 7 August marks Aged Care Employee Day. The 2020 Aged Care Workforce Census, conducted by the Department of Health, identified over 300 000 workers across three aged care service types. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare summarised, between 2019 and 2020, aged care services were accessed by over a million people.
Throughout the last two years, the COVID-19 pandemic has posed many unforeseen challenges to the workforce and the recipients of aged care services. We recognise the continued contribution of workers in Aged Care and extend our thanks to them for their commitment to the sector and those accessing care services.
As Australia’s population ages, approaches to healthy ageing and sustainable practices are being explored. We have recently come across LiveUp, an online platform that provides a quiz for users to assess what it means to “Age Your Way.” Look under more information to access this resource.
