Meet ARIIA Champion Michelle, who is reshaping aged care.
Michelle, Chief Executive Officer at St Basil’s Homes (SA), wanted to foster career progression and leadership within the aged care sector for non-clinical staff. This partnership of non-clinical and clinical leaders not only ensures a better quality of life for residents, but also builds helps to boost staff morale and reduce stress.
To further this project, Michelle partnered with Griffith University researchers in the field of human resources. The support from the researchers has fostered confidence in the project and its progression across the organisation.
Through the development, implementation and evaluation of a role matrix that allows for clearer role scopes and greater career progression, news opportunities such as leave cover for management were opened. The project has seen great uptake across the organisation.
