Personalising your searches
The aged care search collection, developed using PubMed, allows you to search based on specific topics of interest. You can personalise these searches by expanding our 'one-click' options or creating your own from scratch. Standard search filters are also available to help refine your search and make it more specific to your needs.
Creating your own PubMed searches
PubMed is set-up to enable basic and advance use depending on your knowledge and confidence. If you're a new user try the 'all fields' search, as this will map your results to both it's internal classification (MESH) and free text terms. If you are an advanced user you can select the specific fields you want.
Below is a collection of videos that give you an overview of PubMed and how to use it's basic and advanced elements.

How to use our searches and create your own
To help you use our searches and to create your own or use filters, we have created a show guide to assist you in finding research that is relevant to your needs.
Search filters
Search filters are another way to find research easily. Searches has been preconstructed for you and are designed for specific topics, populations, conditions or settings. Some search filters during their development have been validated (creating highly relevant results to a particular topic) and others have not. Search filters can assist you with searching in the following ways:
- You can attach them to your own search
- Limit your search results to a particular group, condition or setting
- Saves you time and knowledge by locating the most relevant results to your search
Search filters enable you to access searches that have already been pretested to ensure relevance to the topic sought. This means you can put in your key terms and add the filter to the results for the most relevant results.
Validated search filters - sources
